For the past year my boys have been sharing a teeny tiny dresser. Uggh.. the clothes were jammed together and never closed because they were just too full. Mr. Pinkapotamus and I didn't want to spend a fortune on a dresser so we started shopping around local garage sales. And this is what we found!
A great cherry dresser with pretty nice hardware for $25. So we brought it home. And took it all apart and gave it a cleaning and some fixing.
We really loved the color but the paint on the dresser itself needed some help. So we picked a cool dark blue and got to spray painting.
After some heavy lifting we got it up the stairs and ino the boys room.
This thing is a monster of a dresser. I put in all of their clothes and everything fits with room to spare! Whoo hoo!
Don't you just love garage sales? I know I do.. the next redo on my garage sale finds is this fun picnic basket I got for $1.
We almost got to 100.. we were 6 short .. but last week was the largest Pink Hippo Party ever and we gained about 10 new followers which brings us closer to the elusive 400 follower mark! Thanks to everyone who played along!
Now on to my favorites from last week.. and trust me .. this was sooo hard as there was soo much rocking talent out there!
In my small town in NJ, we are very fortunate to have the Most Amazing Librarians! They are truly wonderful women who are encouraging and exciting in the shared passion for books and reading! This year our school librarian is retiring which makes me sad for my kids but happy for her.
I thought that it would be fun to give her a special gift to say "Thanks". So here is the plaque that I made for her.
And here is how I made it.
Start by painting the outside edges of the plaque.
Next Mod Podge strips of the book pages.
When dry hit it with a bit of paint to give it an aged look.
Then cut out the words "You make the words fly off the pages and Mod Podge.
Then make a book out of the bottom edges of the by gluing paper to the bottom and folding in half.
butterflies in scrapbook paper and book pages.
Glue them around the words.
Hope she know that she will be missed and that this is just a small token of our affection for her and her years of service! I am sharing with
Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day with the special Daddies in your life! In the morning my Mommy and I ran a Father's Day 5K! My mom ran for the first time and I cheered her on from the sideline! As for me I came in top 10 for women overall and 3rd for my age!
Whoo hoo.. 24:10!
Then we had a BBQ and a campfire for smores with
Mr. Pinkapotamus and my Daddy!
The Pink Hippo Party is now 34.. can you believe it? .. but I have never gotten to over 100 links.. so if you guys.. my hardcore party goers could help me out by spreading the word that would be awesome!
