Our Valentine's!

As you may know Valentine's is my little guys birthday!  Whoo hoo!  This year he is super into pirates.. and asked for a pirate cake to match his shirt.. so we started our Valentine's early on Sunday night with cake!
Here he is blowing out the candles!

He was soo proud of himself!
On Valentine's Day we made some super special Valentine Heart Shaped Cookie Pops for my 5 year old's class.
Here is a quick recipe on how to make them!

Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tablespoon milk
1/2 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Powdered sugar or flour for rolling out dough

Cream the butter and sugar.  Add egg, vanilla and milk.  In separate bowl mix flour, baking powder and salt.  Combine the dry and wet ingredients.  When the dough comes away from the side separate into two squares and wrap in wax paper.  Refrigerate 2 hours.  After 2 hours open package and let come to room temperature  Preheat oven to 375 degress.
Roll dough out on either powdered sugar or flour.  Cut into desired shape keeping the dough about 1/2 inch thick.  Place on cookie sheet and insert a stick.
Bake 7 minutes then flip and bake an additional 6 -7 minutes depending on your oven.

While the cookies are baking make your chocolate for dipping.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
2 tablespoons of butter
half and half until it reaches the right consistency

Melt chips and chocolate in the microwave.  It will be the consistency of icing.  Add half and half until it is creamy and drips from the spoon.

Use the chocolate to dip the cookies and then sprinkle with nonparels.
And of course it ALWAYS helps to have a friend or two!

Once ours were done we wrapped each one in a clear bag and tied with a heart bow.  We packed them in a basket and brought them to school.

My middle guy was soo proud!
Hope everyone enjoyed this V-day as much as we did!

I am sharing with
