Librarian Gift

In my small town in NJ, we are very fortunate to have the Most Amazing Librarians!  They are truly wonderful women who are encouraging and exciting in the shared passion for books and reading!  This year our school librarian is retiring which makes me sad for my kids but happy for her.
I thought that it would be fun to give her a special gift to say "Thanks".  So here is the plaque that I made for her.
And here is how I made it.
Ingredients
wood plaque
scrapbook paper
old book
butterfly cutters
Mod Podge
craft glue
paint
Start by painting the outside edges of the plaque.
Next Mod Podge strips of the book pages.

When dry hit it with a bit of paint to give it an aged look.
Then cut out the words "You make the words fly off the pages and Mod Podge.
Then make a book out of the bottom edges of the by gluing paper to the bottom and folding in half.
butterflies in scrapbook paper and book pages.
Glue them around the words.
Ta-DA!
Hope she know that she will be missed and that this is just a small token of our affection for her and her years of service!

I Spy A Great Teacher!

This one is for our Kindergarten Teacher.. an I Spy magnet tray for the classroom!
And please don't anyone hate me for cutting up my Family Fun magazines.. it was necessary.. they have the best pictures!

Ingredients
Fun magazines
scissors
Mod Podge
Creative items
Magnets of any form
Metal Tray or cookie sheet
Start by cutting out the pictures you like from any magazine.  I used Family Fun because it seemed most Kid appropriate.
Then lay out the pics on your tray and Mod Podge.
Next put magnets on any additional fun three dimensional objects that you want to add to your "I Spy" tray.

Last on the back Mod Podge several different I Spy games for the kids to play.

I chose to do a silly one, an alphabet themed one and a number one!  Just remember to have fun!
I also had my son write a note that said, "I Spy a great teacher and it's you!"

Teacher Appreciation Idea #1

We love our teachers!
So here is an easy cork board project that I came up with to store all of those important notes!

Ingredients
embroidery hoop
cork round (Ikea)
fabric
paint
ribbon (2 kinds)
twine
mini clothespins
wood circles

Start by drilling a hole in your cork round.  Then paint the hole a color that matches your fabric.

Next cut out 5 circles from your fabric to make the circles for the "notes" and glue them to the wood circles.
They should look like this:
When the paint is dry on the cork board glue down the fabric.. first on the top and then all the way around.

Then wrap the embroidery hoop in thick fabric.. I used grosgrain.  Tie a loop at the end.

Now tie the cork board circle to the embroidery hoop.

Last tie the twine string across the embroidery hoop and glue the letters to the clothespins.
