Hello!!!

My name is Jen and I blog over at The Crafting Fiend. I've been blogging for just over a year. I started my blog because I thought my facebook friends were getting tired of seeing more pictures of the things I was making than pictures of the family.



I've been married for 5 1/2 years I love shoes, and my husband thankfully knows to not waste money buying me flowers and to save it up for a pair of shoes instead.

and we have a gorgeous 22 month old - who loves to run and play and help me in the kitchen.

and we have another little girl due This coming September (and yes, I am looking for guest posters that month - mid- end... )

Most of my crafting is related to my girl (and soon to be girls). My blogging follows no schedule currently because the only schedule I keep is breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, snack, supper, snack, and snack again a time or two. (can you tell I'm pregnant? lol)

I have a few patterns up on my blog for free under the tutorials tab

I love to sew my kid clothing and pink is my favourite colour.

Children's Book Name Sign

Seriously.. I make Waaaaay too mny name signs.. but hey it's what I love to do!  So this one was a bit different cause one of my Bff's little guys is turning 2 and he just got a new Lightning McQueen big boy bed room.  Obviously NO boy's room is complete without a cute name sign.. so here is my latest version..made from a Cars book!

I made it with a book that I purchased and then I painted the background and Mod Podged the cut up pieces of the book onto the plaque.  My apologies to any librians that I have offended in creating this sign. 

I tried to get all of the characters into the background and have it match up pretty closely. 

I also painted the letters so that they would have the lightning bolt across them and the white background.

Saturday Silliness #2

In honor of Memorial Day I will be marching in the Parade with my Girl Scout Troop.  As you watch the parades this weekend I ask that you Please remember to thank a VET and that also behind every banner is a Crazy mother who stayed up all night to make it!

Birdie for my Bathroom

So the hubby was complaining last night that he made me a BEAUtiful new bathroom..

and that I have done NOTHING to decorate it and make it look Pretty!

So while we were at Marshalls, I saw this cute bird painting..

and of course rather than buying it I snapped a quick picture and figured that I could paint it myself.   And then I did! See!

Obviously it is a bit different.. but I don't want to complete steal someone else's work.. it was a wonderful inspiration though!

Here's how I made it.. in case you like my little birdie too.

I started with my canvas and some magazine pages.

Then I tore them into pieces and Mod Podged them onto the canvas.

It looked like this when it was completely covered.

While the Mod Podge dried I drew the shape of the bird and the branch.

Then I cut it out.

Next I traced a frame that had fancy edges.

Then I cut out the center to make a sweet border.

Once the magazined canvas was dry, I painted it with red, black and blue.

Then I Mod Podged my birdie, branch and border.

Last I added a cute scroll to the top as per the request of the Hubby.

Here's how it will look in the bathroom someday when it gets hung up.

Now I just have to get the hubby to make me a frame for it!
