Let's Ride

One yucky old piece of wood
+
a little paint, vinyl and some Pick Your Plum Washi Tape
=
One happy sign for my bathroom!
Want to make one too it's super EASY!
Paint your wood
a base color.
While your wood dries cut out your words in vinyl.
Then stick 'em on your board.
Add your top coat of paint
and cover over your letters.
Once it dries, peel off your letters.
Now grab your sandpaper and scuff it.
Next add your Washi Tape

And since it's going in my bathroom I gave it a nice coat of Mod Podge to seal it!

It's not ALWAYS perfect.. A Craft Fail

I have been trying desperately for YEARS to create a skirt... I know I know I know.. thousands of women out there make skirts EVERYDAY.. wearable skirts that are super cute and comfy.. but not this girl!
And of course there is Pinterest where I drool over hundreds of lovely patterns and hope that THIS one might just be wearable.. and then... EPIC FAIL happens instead.

Here is my latest fail...

supposed to be this:
a full size toddler skirt.. thought that I would practice and make one for the my neighbor's daughter.
My skirt!
Barely fits the American Girl doll.. (please excuse her toplessness.. someone cute and little lost most of her clothes)
and the seams are a total MESS!

Now don't get me wrong my sewing machine and I have created lots of lovely things together like
crowns

aprons
and fabric flowery stuff..
but this is apparently a WHOLE nother level of sewing.. sigh.. someday.. I will make pretty wearable things..
p.s. This post was inspired by my bloggy friend Amy's hilarious  "Craft Fail"

Shabby Apple Giveaway

Shabby Apple is an online dress boutique that specializes in Vintage and Retro Dresses.  They have an old fashioned style and modern ideas which you will notice when looking at the clothing they offer.  If you are like me, I love new clothes but hate going out to finding something that I like.   In the comfort of your home, you can browse their terrific selection of women's, children, pre-teen and maternity clothing .  I found the dynamite  At Shabby Apple, I love all that they offer, from the dresses to their accessories.  Their products are by far the best that I have seen in a long time.  I just fell in love with a dress called Tiber.  This dress has everything I for when shopping for a dress: 3/4th sleeves, boat neck and knee length.  Simple but elegant in style.

Sometimes finding a certain style can be so frustrating at times.  No matter what you look at, nothing pops out at you.  Shabby Apple has styles from flirty to straight laced and everything in between.  I cannot tell you how much I love this site and the clothing they offer.  My husband said he was worried, I was gonna put us in a whole but their prices are so worth while.  They even have a terrific sales page.  I love a bargain.

My personal favorite is the Jacobethan
*V-neck wrap maxi dress with navy and charcoal stripes * Comfortable poly/rayon/spandex blend * Machine wash cold, line dry, iron medium heat Named for a style of British architecture revived in the 19th century for English mansion homes, this smooth and supple wrap dress has an effortless structure to maximize your figural impact. Defined demurely at the bust and the waist, the Jacobethan dress has a straight maxi-length skirt and sophisticated neutral stripes that work to slim, soften, and spruce up your shape.
it would be the perfect addition to any summer wardrobe!
I love how comfortable yet elegant it looks.

They do have something for everyone .  They have been gracious enough to offer a $50 GC to their site to purchase anything you want.

Tips on how to create a child friendly bathroom

Tips on how to create a child friendly bathroom
Whether you already have young children, are expecting a little one soon or just want to make sure that you are prepared for the future, you’ve probably already thought a little bit about making sure that your house is child friendly.
One room that people often omit when considering how their house can be safe for kids is the bathroom, despite it being one of the more dangerous rooms in the house for youngsters. So here are some tips that you can implement in your home for keeping your kids safe in the bathroom.
Try to ensure that all appliances are at a child friendly height: having a little one trying to climb up to reach the sink or get onto the toilet is just a disaster waiting to happen. But bear in mind that the kids will soon grow out of the smaller fittings. So if installing new bathroom fittings is too much out of your budget or doesn’t seem sensible, invest in some safe steps that will help them reach everything more easily without slipping and injuring themselves.
Ensure that any cabinets that are within reach of prying hands have the ability to be locked. Consider all the different things you keep in your bathroom cupboards: there are some things that will be fine for them to get into like towels and washcloths, but every bathroom is filled with bottles of body lotion, shampoo, shower gel as well as cleaning chemicals. If a child got into any of these, they could do themselves some serious harm without knowing any better. Either lock all these cupboards or keep these things out of reach.
It sounds silly but having children should make you also consider you water usage.
Kids just love to play with water, splashing it around all over the place, which means that more of it will be disappearing down the drain than before. Try installing a Geberit cistern which provides an economical flush with the dual buttons while also looking a lot more stylish than a usual cistern.
Also remember to watch when they’re brushing their teeth or washing their hands that the tap is not running at full power for too long.
