Hoo Are You? #37

Hello fellow Hoots!  It's time for another episode of

NightOwlCrafting
So here are the answers to the questions on everyone's minds this week!
1. Have you ever had a professional massage before?
No.. but I am totally jealous of all of those who have!

2. When drinking bottled water do you have a preference on which brand you drink?
I love any bottled water except for Aquafina.. it has a funny taste and texture.  Also if given a choice between regular and bubbly I would chose bubbles every time!

3. What is your favorite kind of soup?
I love canned tomato rice soup.. but otherwise my favorite is stuffed pepper soup.. ohhh soo good!

4. Do you have a preference on which Kleenex brand you use?
I use tissues so often that as far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter... toilet paper and / or paper towels are also favorite substitutions!

5. What is your favorite breakfast food?
I love crepes with warm fruit preserves and fruit salad.

First Spring Stash Busted Project

Spring has sprung which means that it is time for a new wreath!  Yay!
But really my wreath is an old wreath that is being upcycled for the 2nd time with items from my stash!  So here is a peak at some of the stash that was used.
Ribbon, buttons, burlap and of course wood letters and paint!
Now onto the wreath!

Sorry for some reason in the picture the S is hard to see!

And here is how I made it.  First let's start with its humble beginnings as a St. Patty's day wreath from last month.
First I took it all apart and started from scratch.  Then I wrapped the entire wreath in my creamy colored burlap.
Next I cut some triangles to make a pennant across the wreath.
Then I painted the triangles all diffferent springy colors.
I added it to the wreath with yellow ribbon and mini clothes pins and added some springy ribbons scraps between the pennants.
Next I added ribbon rosettes and colorful buttons.
Last I added a ribbon loop for hanging and a pretty bow!

And voila.. upcycled and stash busted.. whoo hoo!

Spring Stash Bust

Tomorrow marks the first day of
The Spring Stash Bust  @ http://www.thetshirtdiaries.com/
and I have to admit that I am a little scared!  The thought of NOT being able to stop at the craft store and visit my best friends JoAnn, Michael and AC can be a bit overwhelming.. but here I GO!

So here is my BEFORE.. But be forewarned that it is NOT pretty!  There is much work to be done in the next month..

This is just the stash that is hiding under my table in the dining room.
This is just one bucket that holds all of my scrappy scrapbook paper.. not to be confused with the entire organizer that houses the full sheets.

Now on to the basement!  These are my cabinets and buckets which house much of my stash.. however, since you don't have ALL day to spend on my craft hoarding issues.. these are just a few pictures of what is around.. I will show more later in the month.
Now on to the buckets o' stuff!

So I hope that I can make Robin proud of my stashbusting abilities and I hope the rest of you enjoy the ride!

Raspberry Oat Pecan Crumble.. oh Yumble!

It has been a little over a week since my surgery.. and I am finally regaining my lost sense of smell.  I swear it has been YEARS since I have smelled much of anything.. which does come in handy csometimes..like when the dirty diapers come out or there is yucky garbage in the house.. But this is such an exciting moment for me.. so of course I had give my sniffer a test with some homemade yumminess!
So here is my Raspberry Oat Pecan Crumble!

Ingredients
1 1/2 sticks softened butter
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup raspberry preserves

In your mixer cream butter and sugar.
Then add vanillla.
In a separate bowl combine flour, oats, pecans and salt.

Add dry ingredients to wet and mix.

 Grease a small pan.

Press 1/2 of your mixture into the bottom of the pan firmly.

Scoop in the preserves and spread over the top of the mixture.

Crumble the rest of the top over the preserves.

Then bake for 30 minutes at 400 degrees until gold and bubbly!
My favorite part was being able to smell the buttery goodness and taste the sweetness of the raspberry.  Hope you enjoy!
Oh and by the way.. if you actually wait until your crumble cools it will cut into bars!  We are just totally impatient and can't wait!

Guest Post: Beth Adams

Hello Blogland! It's Beth from Wiccan Make Some Too.

Here I am helping out my friend Amie while she is recovery from her surgery. Shout out to Amie! Feel better soon Girl! (cyber hugs)

Today I want to talk to all of you about the "little things". You know those things you do for your loved ones that don't seem all that important but at the end of the day, they end up meaning quite a bit to the other person.  Maybe you took back some lunch meat to the store cause they gave your husband Honey Baked Ham instead of the Black Forest Ham that he ordered. Or you go that extra mile just to make someone feel special. My son called me yesterday to tell me that his wife was being "mean" to him. I asked him if he deserved it & he replied that he probably did. So I told him that I had no problem with her being mean to him if that was the case. That was all the call entailed but it was my son's way of letting me know he was thinking of me & that meant a lot.  Like for Valentine's Day I got my Hubs some balloons & for an extra $.50 I got a sheet of poster board. I brought it all home, took the poster board & made a sign from the cats & from our bunny Bandit (we lost Bandit the next day due to health problems) Then I  placed it outside in the driveway so he saw it as he came home from work. The neighbors & passers by saw it too! Here it is:

It reads "We love U Dad"

He was so tickled with this & it did not take much out of my day to do that for him

As I was making some shamrocks out of toilet paper rolls, I also made this for my Hubs in honor of our bunny Bandit:

It took very little time & he was so happy that I did that he actually brought it up the next day, telling me how much it meant to him. I was like " Uh...toilet paper roll? Not a big deal!" But to him it was. So take a minute & write a note to slip into your husband's briefcase or on the dashboard of his car or in your child's lunch box  that says "Hey, I love you" If you are in line at the store & you see a candy bar you know the hubby likes or a magazine with an article you know will interest them., grab it it put it in your cart. Yea, okay, it may seem stupid but those things count too & says " I think about you even when you are not around." My husband & I have an anniversary this month on the 16th.

Us on our Honeymoon in Key West

We have been together since 1996 & our relationship is still great cause we take the time to show each other that we care with little things.

So ...it only takes a second or two but it will stay with the person forever.
