Snowman Soup

Here is an easy gift that is super fun to share with friends, teachers or neighbors.  The kids can help too!
We started with fancy glass jars.
We filled each jar with 2 cups of Hot chocolate mix.  1 crushed up candy cane and 2 heaping handfuls of mini marshmallows.
Then I printed out a cute Snowman Soup recipe.
(to find it just google "snowman soup")
Then we tied the label on with blue ribbon.
Then we wrapped in Christmas themed paper bags and tied with a bow!
We gave these to our Brownies to enjoy and as fillers in our teacher's gifts!  Hope you make some too.. it's super yummy!  And really who doesn't love hot chocolate on a cold day?

p.s.  I think that I may be a little snowman obsessed.. has anyone else noticed a pattern around here?

Salt Dough Ornaments

We made salt dough ornaments!
And you can too!
This was GREAT for a Saturday afternoon activity with the kids.

Here are the ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water
Mix the flour and salt together in your mixer

Then start by adding 1/2 cup water
Keep mixing until the dough is smooth!
Then roll with a rolling pin until it is about 1/2 inch thick
Then cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters or freehand them if you are really talented!
Then put on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 325 degrees until they are dry
Once cooled let the painting begin!

Here's what my guys created!
The Little Lady's
The Middle Man's
And the Little Man's
I can't wait to string 'em up and hang 'em on the tree!

I am a BRAVE Woman!

Yesterday was my annual Girl Scout Holiday Party!  I had 13 excited eight year old girls at my house to make sugar cookies, necklaces and ornaments.  My house may never be the same again..lol!  We had a great time!
We started by making the cookies.  I spread my entire counter with powdered sugar
and then let the girls roll out the dough!
Then they cut out the shapes and baked.  While the cookies baked, I let the girls each make an icing color of their choice to decorate with.  Yes, I DID give them food coloring!  These are how the cookies came out iced!
Didn't them make great colors?
Next we made some washer necklaces with a little holiday flair.. jingle bells!
And of course, every holiday party needs a new decoration for the the tree!
The last thing we did was a holiday gift exchange.  I had all of my girls bring a $10 gift wrapped in a shoe box.  We played musical present with 1 present at a time.  The winner got a present and added her gift into the mix.  It was great!  All the girls loved their gifts!  And of course I had to give my girlies something for Christmas so here is what they got!
Can YOU guess what it is?

An Apple for the Teacher!

It's that time again!  Time to get thinking creatively about what to give the teacher for Christmas.  This year I thought it would be fun to give the teacher an apple.. so I made her one .. for her desk!
Of course, I also made her a few different kinds of cookies, nutellas, snickerdoodles and chocolate crinkles!  Oh Yum!

I wrapped each cookie package in pretty bags and tied them with a bow.
Then I wrapped it all up in a holiday themed basked and tied with an even bigger bow!

What did you give your teacher's this year?

Nutella Cookies

I LOVE Nutella!  It's creamy texture, it's chocolatey goodness!  And I thought it would make a super yummy cookie!
So here is my Nutella Cookie recipe:
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup Nutella
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup white sugar for decoration
Cream the butter, sugars and nutella together.  Add the egg and vanilla.
In a separate bowl mix the flour, baking soda and salt.
Add flour mixture to the nutella mixture and combine.
I use a cookie scoop to make balls and then roll them in a bowl of sugar.

Place them on the cookie sheet 1 inch apart and press with a fork.
Bake in a 375 degree oven for 20 minutes.. depending on the size of your cookies.  Mine are pretty big!  I bake 10 minutes then turn the cookie sheet and bake the rest of the way.
They are soo crunchy and delicious!  Hope they become a new favorite for you too!
