Dresser Re-Do.. Whoo Hoo!

For the past year my boys have been sharing a teeny tiny dresser.  Uggh.. the clothes were jammed together and never closed because they were just too full.  Mr. Pinkapotamus and I didn't want to spend a fortune on a dresser so we started shopping around local garage sales.  And this is what we found!
A great cherry dresser with pretty nice hardware for $25. So we brought it home.  And took it all apart and gave it a cleaning and some fixing.

We really loved the color but the paint on the dresser itself needed some help. So we picked a cool dark blue and got to spray painting.

Hope you stop by and see how I fix it!

Summer Fun.. Mixed Media Style

I've said it once and I'll say it again.. sometimes I just make things to be silly!
So here is a great example!
So if you would like to make some mixed media summer fun of your own.. here is how I made it:
Ingredients
acrylic paint
wood frame
wood people
scrapbook paper
shells
Mod Podge
glue

First I started with the background.
I added the scrapbook paper to make the sky, waves and sand.

Next I painted my people

and of course gave them beachwear.

Next I painted the outside of the frame blue and then covered the bottom in sand with glue.
Then I added my people and some shells for the full picture.

Some summer fun on the first day of summer and summer vacation for us here in NJ!

Librarian Gift

In my small town in NJ, we are very fortunate to have the Most Amazing Librarians!  They are truly wonderful women who are encouraging and exciting in the shared passion for books and reading!  This year our school librarian is retiring which makes me sad for my kids but happy for her.
I thought that it would be fun to give her a special gift to say "Thanks".  So here is the plaque that I made for her.
And here is how I made it.
Ingredients
wood plaque
scrapbook paper
old book
butterfly cutters
Mod Podge
craft glue
paint
Start by painting the outside edges of the plaque.
Next Mod Podge strips of the book pages.

When dry hit it with a bit of paint to give it an aged look.
Then cut out the words "You make the words fly off the pages and Mod Podge.
Then make a book out of the bottom edges of the by gluing paper to the bottom and folding in half.
butterflies in scrapbook paper and book pages.
Glue them around the words.
Ta-DA!
Hope she know that she will be missed and that this is just a small token of our affection for her and her years of service!
