Mother's Day Tribute

This is my Grandma.
Cute isn't she?
She was a very special lady in my life, my Grandma but also my best friend.
My aunt once told me that time and space allows for a special bond between grandparents and their grandchildren and boy was she was right.
I spent many happy hours at her house talking, giggling and just enjoying her company.
Well, this little lady passed away a few years ago and I miss her like crazy.. so I made something to remind me of her all the time.
This tray table
was Gigi's and when I was a little girl I used to create projects on it and eat dessert on it all the time.
So I thought that I would give it a facelift with some sentiment.
First I added some simple contact paper to the top.
Next I grabbed a picture of her hugging my daughter.. such a priceless picture.
Then I added a little Mod Podge magic to make it stick.
Next I used my Cricut and some vinyl.
She always told us to "Watch the road and be careful"
So here it is..
a new family heirloom that I hope my children will enjoy for years to come~

Friday Feature: Bluebird Cottage Designs

Today's Featured Guest is
Jennifer Dawn--
I have a small Etsy Shop--Bluebird Cottage Designs--where I sell accessories for ladies
Orange Mum Cabochon and Bronze Filigree Adjustable Ring
of all ages and outfits for the little ones.
Nautical Onesie or T-shirt with Sailboat Applique (Made to Order)Lacy Skirt (Made to Order with 6 Fabric Choices)Timothy Necktie Onesie (Made to Order)

It is really a labor of love that I do strictly for fun and to help support a cause I'm very passionate about. A portion of every sale goes to People for Care and Learning, an amazing humanitarian organization. Right now they are on a tremendous mission to build a city in Cambodia that will provide homes and a sustainable community for thousands. That is something that I wanted to get on board with, so I made a commitment to help through the shop's proceeds.

Aside from the Etsy Shop, I am also the face behind the blog "The Life Of Jennifer Dawn" where I share snapshots of my life and my family,
an assortment of craft and sewing projects,
 recipes,
and tales from mommydom.
You can also find me on "Making the World Cuter" where I serve as the sewing contributor. Blogging and crafting are fantastic, but my favorite times are those spent with the loves of my life--my husband and three children.

May Day Fun

This little girl wanted to have some fun on May Day..
so she sat on the floor surrounded by flowers...
and stuffed them into jars..
and ran to the neighbors houses
to surprise them with flower May Day baskets!
The little lady had a great time..
and the neighbors got a fun and festive surprise!

And just in case you want to make some with your little ones next year.. here is a quick idea for
making
hanging Mason Jar May Day Baskets!
So super simple and a nice surprise for your friends and neighbors.
I started with this BIG bunch of flowers!
I tied a circle around my Mason jar, tied it on one side then wrapped a handle and tied it around the other side.
Then I grabbed my Mason jar and added a little piece of burlap and a fabric flower.
Last I wrapped my flowers in tissue paper and popped them into the jar.
This one we gave to my little guy's teacher..
And of course my little girl tied hers with BIG lace bows!
Hope you had a happy May Day!
